The TL494 incorporates on a single monolithic chip all the functions required in the construction of a pulse-width-modulation control circuit The TL494 has an on-chip 5-volt regulator, two error amplifiers, an adjustable oscillator, a dead-time control comparator, a pulse-steering flip-flop, and output-control circuitry. It was primarily created for power supply regulation. Either a common-emitter or an emitter-follower output capability is offered by the uncommitted output transistors. Through the output-control feature, you can choose between push-pull or single-ended output operation. It is impossible for either output to be pulsed twice during push-pull operation due to the TL494′s design.
