Moving away from the older OmniVision chip, the V2 relies on the exceptional 8-megapixel Sony IMX219 sensor. It plugs directly into the native CSI (Camera Serial Interface) port using the provided ribbon cable, leveraging hardware-accelerated image processing directly from the Pis GPU. It is natively compatible with the libcamera architecture in modern Raspberry Pi OS releases.
